ACCIÓ—the agency for business competitiveness—honored the 10 most disruptive companies in Catalonia in 2025 on Wednesday. These are: 4BlueTech, Admit Therapeutics, Casa Batlló, Grup Estabanell (Energy in the Cloud – ERIA), MatHolding – VEGGA, Protofy.xyz, Sequentia Biotech, Sycai Medical, UniSCool, and Yplasma, which have received the “Catalonia Exponential Leaders” designation, recognizing them as leaders in disruptive innovation.

All of them have received the “Catalonia Exponential Leaders” designation, which positions them as leaders in the field of disruptive innovation. This year’s event was held at the WTC in Barcelona and brought together more than 300 business leaders. The award-winning startups and established companies have been recognized for their ability to make a positive impact on society beyond their core business activities, their unique value proposition, their organizational culture, and their potential for exponential growth. Their ability to incorporate disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and advanced biotechnology has also been evaluated. These companies specialize in sectors such as healthcare and life sciences; energy, agriculture, and culture.

VEGGA reconocida como una de las diez empresas más disruptivas de Cataluña.

According to ACCIÓ, the 10 most disruptive companies in Catalonia in 2025 are:

  • 4BlueTech: A science-based startup that has developed modular microalgae bioreactors capable of absorbing up to 99.98% of CO₂ and other pollutants. It is a scalable technology that can be adapted to cities, industries, and hospitals, converting captured CO₂ into new materials and fuels to promote a circular economy.
  • Admit Therapeutics: An IDIBELL spin-off specializing in the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. It has developed the MAP-AD Test, the first test based on an epigenetic biomarker of mitochondrial DNA. It offers a pioneering tool in personalized medicine with a clear social mission.
  • Casa Batlló: It has revolutionized the museum experience with immersive spaces such as the Gaudí Cube and the Gaudí Dome. Using artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and big data, it personalizes the visitor experience and optimizes visitor flow, even allowing you to scale your model.

  • UniSCool: A spin-off from the University of Lleida that has patented a direct-to-chip liquid cooling system capable of reducing the energy consumption of servers and units by up to 70%. They are already working on next-generation chips with integrated internal cooling channels, which allow for higher performance with lower power consumption.
  • Yplasma: An INTA spin-off that uses plasma technology to develop actuators with no moving parts, which improve aerodynamics, cooling, and surface disinfection. A more efficient alternative to traditional mechanical systems, with leading clients in sectors such as consumer electronics, aerospace, and wind energy.

The Potential of AI and Data for Businesses

This year, the seventh edition of ACCIÓ’s Exponential Day focused on artificial intelligence and how companies can leverage this technology and the potential of data in their businesses.

The event featured a presentation by Vanessa Cann, Managing Director and Head of Data and AI Innovation at Accenture, and one of the leading voices in the European ecosystem for this technology. It also features a conversation between experts Genís Roca, president of Accent Obert, and Ignasi Costas, managing partner and co-founder of RCD. The participating companies were able to take part in various sessions on the application of AI in their businesses, as well as attend networking events.
